Content
Geography
The easternmost settlement of the region. It is located on the left bank of the Upper Angara River , 70 km east of the village of Novy Uoyan , and 230 km from the regional center - the village of Nizhneangarsk . Kyukhelbekerskaya station is located in the north-eastern part of the village. The distance from it to the city of Severobaykalsk is 252 km.
History
The emergence of the settlement is associated with the construction of BAM. In March 1980, the first landing party of builders arrived at the site of the future village. In July of the same year, a health center was opened, in September - a secondary school. In October 1981, the first train arrived at the station.
February 24, 1982 Yanchukan received the status of a working village [2] . In September, the "silver link" was laid.
Since 1985, the infrastructure of the village was built by the Armenian trust ArmBAMstroy, transferred here from the village of Zvezdny . In the construction of buildings used building material from Armenia , in particular, Transcaucasian tufa .
The railway station was named in honor of the Decembrist V. K. Küchelbeker [3] .
