Asaba [1] ( Arabic. ولاية العصابة , FR. Assaba ) is a region in the south of Mauritania .

Geography
In the south-west it borders with the Kudimaga region, in the west with the Kurkul and Brakna regions, in the north with the Takant region, in the east with the Khod el-Garbi region , in the south with Mali .
The region has one of the few lakes in Mauritania - Le Bheir .
