Volzhskaya TPP-2

The construction of the second heat and power plant in Volzhsky after TPP-1 was carried out by order of the USSR Ministry of Energy in 1980, a new source was needed to provide thermal energy to the new production capacities of enterprises in the Volzhsky industrial region, as well as residential buildings in the city of Volzhsky ^[1] . Construction work began in 1982. The first power unit of the Volga TPP-2 with a capacity of 80 MW was put into operation on June 22, 1988 . In 1991 , the second power unit with a capacity of 140 MW was launched. The installed electric capacity of the turbine units at that time was 220 MW, the heat capacity was 1,095 Gcal / h. According to the project, it was planned to install three turbines at the station, but the construction of the third turbine unit was not started ^[2] .

In 2009, due to the insufficient load of production steam withdrawals, the turbine unit No. 1 was modernized with an increase in electric power by 20 MW ^[1] .

Volzhskaya CHPP-2 was part of the energy association of Volgogradenergo REU. During the reform of RAO UES of Russia, Volzhskaya CHPP-2, together with other power plants of Volgogradenergo, became part of Territorial Generating Company No. 8 . After entering the Lukoil group of companies, TGK-8 was divided into several companies, which became 100% of Lukoil's daughters. CHPP-2 at the same time became part of OOO Lukoil-Volgogradenergo ^[2] .

Volzhskaya CHPP-2 operates synchronously with the UES of Russia as part of the Volgograd energy system, which, in turn, is part of the unified energy system (UES) of the South. The installed electric capacity of CHPP-2 at the beginning of 2016 is 240 MW or 6% of the total capacity of the region’s power plants. Electric power generation in 2015 amounted to 1060 million kW⋅h ^[3] . Electricity and power are supplied to the federal wholesale market .

Volzhskaya CHPP-2 in the mode of combined generation of electric and thermal energy supplies heat to industrial enterprises (including in the form of steam) and the population of the “new” part of the city. The installed heat capacity of CHPP-2 at the beginning of 2016 was 945 Gcal / h, the connected load of consumers was 472.4 Gcal / h. Among the major consumers is the Volzhsky Pipe Plant ^[1] .

Volzhskaya CHPP-2 is a steam-powered CHPP, the thermal circuit of which is made with cross connections for a high vapor pressure of 130 ata. The main equipment of the station includes ^[1] :

• two turbo units :
  • No. 1 ПТ-100 / 114-130 / 13 with a capacity of 100 MW 1988 of commissioning,
  • No. 2 PT-140 / 165-130 / 15 with a capacity of 140 MW of 1991 commissioning;
• three steam boiler units of type E-420/140 GNM with a nominal unit steam capacity of 420 t / h;
• two peak water-heating boilers KVGM-180-150 with a unit capacity of 180 Gcal / h.

The main fuel is natural gas , the backup is heating oil .

The height of the chimney is 300 meters.
