Biography
The son of a Kobelyatskian nobleman, Semyon Zhevakhov, Philip, was born in 1752; came from the Georgian princes.
In 1766, at the age of fourteen, he entered military service in the Sumy hussar regiment with the rank of sergeant .
After that, he consecutively served in Kharkov 4th Uhlan , Izyum 11th Hussars , Akhtyrsky 12th Hussars and Leib-Hussars Regiments of the Russian Imperial Army.
In 1771, Zhevakhov was given the rank of ensign . He took part in both the Russian-Turkish wars of the XVIII century .
In 1790, Zhevakhov was promoted to colonel, and in this rank he served until 1801, inclusive, until he was dismissed with the rank of major general.
After leaving the service, F. Zhevakhov lived in the village of Beliky, Kobelyaksky district, Poltava province .
The outbreak of the Patriotic War of 1812 forced the loyal oath of a retired general to take up arms again and lead the Poltava militia, which in 1813 united into the corps of General Semyon Lukich Radt , who had besieged Zamost. With his soldiers, Zhevakhov remained until the end, right up to the dissolution of the militia. In 1814 he returned home. His portrait is placed in the Military Gallery of the Winter Palace.
The exact date of death of Philip Semyonovich Zhevakhov is unknown, it is only known that he died no earlier than 1817.
