Kumbum Temple at Pelkor Chode Monastery in Gyantse
Kumbum is a Tibetan temple made in the form of a multi-tiered stupa with many internal halls and altars at each level.
There are three Kumbumas in total in Tibet . The most famous of them is located on the territory of the Pelkor Chode Monastery in Gyantse , has the form of a mandala and a height of 32 meters.
Kumbum was built in 1440. On the circumference of many floors there are 108 rooms, inside which Buddhist sculptures are placed, and more than 10 thousand wall paintings. The best craftsmen from the Kathmandu Valley were invited for the construction.
