Saint Sophia , the celebration of May 15 , and the holy Apostle Matthew , the celebration of September 21, are honored as patrons of the city.
History
Founded in the XI century by refugees from Paestum . Since they sought to escape from the Saracen raids, the oldest settlement is located on the side of the hill that is least visible to those who invade from the sea.
