Taba ( Arabic: طابا ) is a small resort town in the province of South Sinai , Egypt . Located near the Egyptian-Israeli border, at the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba.

Tourism
Taba is popular with tourists. There are several high-level hotels in the city (in particular, the hotels of the Hilton , Mövenpick, Miramar Resort, Marriott , Sofitel and Intercontinental chains. In the Taba, tourists are attracted by diving and free diving , there are three diving centers (Aqua Sport, Red Sea Waterworld and Werner Lau), which conducts training courses according to the standards of PADI , the professional association of underwater instructors.
Also from Taba, diving enthusiasts get to the Pharaohs island , known for the strength of the Crusades and coral reefs .
History
Taba was on the Egyptian side of the ceasefire line, agreed in 1949 , and returned to Egypt when Israel withdrew its troops from Sinai in 1957 . In 1967 , Israel again occupied the Sinai Peninsula after the Six Day War ( 1967 ). Taba is the last of the areas that was transferred to Egypt under the terms of the 1979 Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty . In 1988 , an international commission composed of one representative of Egypt, one representative of Israel and three representatives from third countries decided that Taba should remain with Egypt.
Transport
It is most convenient for tourists to get to Taba through the local international airport of Taba or through the international airport of Ras Nazran in the city of Sharm el-Sheikh , as well as through the airports of Eilat , Israel .
