Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels

Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels ( Space Wanderer: Retribution of the Blood Angels ) is the second part of the Space Hulk game in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. As in the first part, the meaning of the game was that a detachment of terminators should clean up the Space Wanderer (the skeleton of a huge abandoned spaceship) from the genetics that settled in it. There are also missions with different tasks: find a special CAT item, burn rooms with fire, or just find a way out, fighting off enemies.

Unlike the first Space Hulk, the game became completely in the first person, in three-dimensional graphics, and you can play only for the Bloody Angels. The player can choose any terminator, and manage it personally. But the game has a special tactical screen in which you can give orders to one or more terminators, while the main mode is put on a tactical pause. The peculiarity is that the time for control (“freezing time”) is limited, after which the player can continue, but the game is removed from the “pause” and the terminator remains defenseless. The player can put a regular pause, and the image disappears. The terminator controlled by the player, in any case, must remain alive.

In 2006, THQ Wireless [1] created a version of the game for mobile phones with a first-person view and step-by-step mode.

Content

Weapons

The game has almost all the terminator weapons:

  • Assault bolter
  • Heavy flamethrower
  • Assault Cannon
  • Thunder Hammer (paired with a shield)

In addition, each terminator in his left hand has a power fist that can be replaced by:

  • Chain fist
  • Power sword
  • Power fist with integrated grenade launcher
  • A pair of Stormclaws (replace all weapons)
  • Storm Shield

Game Modes

The game has two game modes: campaign and individual missions. Among the missions there is also training.

The game varies in complexity. In the version for 3DO there is no choice of complexity, but for the PlayStation it can be customized. For PC, there is a slider that controls complexity, which affects mainly melee.
