Creation History

In the first version of the text brought by Margarita Pushkina, the girl's name was Anna. Dubinin objected, because the combination “hear, Anne, Anna ...” seemed to him not very melodic - and in turn proposed the name Jeanne. We decided to stay on Jeanne. This image is not connected with any worldly everyday life of musicians, and even less so with Zhanna d'Arc , although according to Vitaly, it was Zhanna who was called by one of his acquaintance girls who sometimes engaged in prostitution. Pushkin was one hundred percent sure that the invented text was simply luxurious and therefore not subject to alteration, but Kholstinin nevertheless crossed out a version of the second verse with the words:

“You give everything that is,
To those who come to your house
But you're alone like a finger
Even when we two ... "

In 1987, a clip was composed for the song “Rose Street”, consisting of concert recordings, touring everyday groups, video recordings in the studio and stage shots against the backdrop of the Olimpiysky Sports Complex. The crowd was created by the fans of the group in the number of ~ 7000 people.

Song Contents

The text is quite abstract and raises many questions. Because of this, many hypotheses about its true content have developed around the lyrics. According to the most likely version, the song is based on the biography of the French poet Charles Baudelaire , who was in love with a courtesan.

 Vladimir Holstinin.
“So this is Baudelaire. At eighteen, this guy’s mother drove him out of the house, and young Charles lived with a prostitute, much older than him. In the afternoon he passionately loved her, but he also wanted to eat. And when his lover went to the panel to earn money, he began to hate her passionately. ” [one]

Another hypothesis was that Holstinin, who was fond of literature, wanted to portray in Jeanne the main character of Elsa Triole ’s novel “ Roses on credit ”. This girl is ratted at the end of the book.

Another version voiced by Margarita Pushkina

 Margarita Pushkina
“In fact, it all started with Uncle Harris and Bruce [2] , they have“ Acacia Avenue, 22 ”. So I thought: not everyone has seen blooming acacia. Wouldn’t plant roses on our street? ”
