Biography
Kuvshinov was born in the city of Khmelnitsky (Ukraine). Vyacheslav's father was a military man and because of this the family moved a lot, living at different times in Moscow, Kaliningrad and other cities of the USSR. In Moscow in 1952, his only brother was born - Gennady, who, like Vyacheslav, was engaged in scientific research in the field of physics for a long time. After the birth of Gennady, the Kuvshinov family moved to Minsk , where they lived in the Komarovsky market area.
In 1963, he entered the Faculty of Physics of the Belarusian State University , and after graduation , he entered the graduate school of the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR. In 1974 he defended his thesis on "Nonlinear Equations of Electrodynamics of Scalar Mesons", and in 1989 - his doctoral dissertation "Invariant Cubic Forms for Functional Functions of Calibration Models and Hadron Correlation in Multiple Birth Processes." From 1998 to 2004, he headed the Laboratory of Strong Interactions; from 1975 to 1987, he was the scientific secretary of the Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR . From 2004 to 2012, he was the General Director of JINR “Sosny” .
At the same time, Kuvshinov gives lectures at the BSU ( professor since 1993 ), under his leadership one doctoral and eight master's theses were defended. He has repeatedly trained and worked at the European Center for Nuclear Research , is a member of the CMS collaboration at the LHC accelerator, is a member of the Coordination Council for cooperation with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research ( Dubna ), and is editor-in-chief of the international scientific journal Nonlinear Phenomena In Complex Systems.
Scientific activity
Kuvshinov's scientific works are devoted to nuclear physics , the theory of strong interactions , and the nonlinear dynamics of complex systems . He developed the theory of nonperturbative fluctuations of the gluon field ( instantons ) in the nucleus, its compressed and entangled states, carried out the corresponding numerical calculations by the Monte Carlo method , formulated suggestions for the experimental search for these phenomena on the DESY , CERN and Fermilab accelerators.
Together with his students, he generalized the Ginzburg-Landau theory of phase transitions , first described the correlation properties of a new state of matter - a quark-gluon plasma , and predicted a new phenomenon - temperature hysteresis , which can be detected on heavy ion accelerators. Developed approaches to the study of phase transitions can also be applied in the theory of high-temperature superconductors .
