Background
In 1993, the United States organized a competition in mixed martial arts, which was called "fighting without rules." The name arose for two reasons: firstly, in comparison with other existing sports, where two opponents converged in a duel of one form or another, in this type of competition the restrictions were minimal. Secondly, the formidable name "fighting without rules" was attractive to many viewers. The fashion for such fights quickly spread around the world.
Tournament
The tournament "Mr. Strong Sekai" was held in the circus arena without fences. All types of technical actions were allowed, both shock and throw, pain and asphyxiation. Only those technical actions that lead to irreversible damage to the body (bites, gouging eyes, etc.) are prohibited. Despite this, the tournament participant Roman Tikunov tore his mouth to the opponent Yuri Degtyar. He could not continue the fight due to injury, and a semi-final victory went to the representative of the organizers Tikunov.
Victory counted in the case of surrender of the enemy, loss of consciousness ( strangulation , knockout ), knockdown (the fight is not interrupted and the presence of a knockdown clearly leads to loss due to inadequate perception of the enemy and the battle, and even dangerously irreversible damage) and the refusal of counter-actions for some time (Departure into deaf passive protection for more than 5 minutes). The time limit was not set and the fights were not divided into rounds.
The main referee of the tournament was the world- class master of sports , world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling , Alexander Zalussky .
