Story
The novel begins with "reflections in the crystal cave" - the main character Merlin is imprisoned in a strange place where he cannot use his magic power. After a skirmish with Jasra , who is trying to kill him, he still contacts his Amber aunt Flora. Flora helps Merlin transfer to Earth, in San Francisco.
Merlin has to face a new adversary for him - a sorcerer in a mask. The masked man captured the Guardian of the Four Worlds and turned Jasra into a hanger, after a skirmish with the “Mask”, Merlin takes the Jasra hanger into the Amber palace.
