The Patriotic Party of Transnistria is a political party in the Transdniestrian Moldavian Republic that existed in 2006-10. It was created at the Founding Congress on August 4, 2006 [1] . In April 2010, the party was reorganized into the Sociopolitical Movement "Patriots of Transnistria" after its members joined the Republican Social-Patriotic Party created in January of the same year, which included the Patriotic and Republican Parties [2] .

Party History
The founding congress of the Patriotic Party of Transnistria was held on August 4, 2006 . The party included members of such public organizations as the Union of Defenders of Transnistria, the Association of War Veterans in Afghanistan, the Union of Women and others [3] . The initiative group to create the party was led by the son of the Pre-President of the Transnistria Igor Smirnov Oleg Smirnov, he was also elected chairman as a result of a secret non-alternative vote [1] . The congress also elected a political council, the number of which amounted to 33 people [4] .
On September 23, 2006 , the Second Congress of the Patriotic Party was held. The party nominated Igor Smirnov as a candidate for President of the PMR. It was also decided to create a youth wing in the party. The congress was attended by 283 delegates [5] .
On March 12, 2007 , the leader of the Tiraspol branch of the party, Viktor Neumoin , a former member of the Transnistrian Cossacks and a member of the 1992 hostilities , was killed. Neumoev was shot from a machine gun point-blank near his own house. Among the versions of the murder are political (according to the party) and criminal [6] [7] [8] .
On April 26, 2007 , the 3rd Congress of the Patriotic Party was held in Tiraspol . It was attended by 316 delegates. The congress approved the party program, which declared the development of the political system, social security system, as well as relations with Russia. The congress adopted an appeal to United Russia , in which delegates asked the Russian party for "wise advice" [9] [10] [11] .
In August 2007, the Patriotic Party signed a cooperation agreement with Just Russia [12] [13] [14] .
On September 13, 2008 , the IV Congress was held. The congress on behalf of A Just Russia was sent by Sergey Mironov. It was announced at the congress that 1,600 people and 40 primary organizations were members of the party [15] . Before the work began, the congress was announced as a turning point and a historic one. In particular, it was supposed to declare the PPP a conductor of socialist ideology in Transnistria, a fighter against neoliberalism and monopolism [16] . The congress was attended by 242 delegates. The party advocated giving Orthodoxy official status in the PMR, as well as strengthening the role of the state in regulating the economy. The party advocated the introduction of taxes on corporate excess profits, as well as improving the income tax system [17] .
In April 2009, the party joined the Transnistrian Republican Party in the Social-Patriotic Bloc.
On December 29, 2009 , the V Extraordinary Congress was held, at which it was decided to unite with the Republican Party and create the Republican Social-Patriotic Party of Transnistria [18] . There were only 38 delegates at the congress, and the leaders Oleg and Marina Smirnov were absent. Of the party leaders at the congress, there was only Igor Ivanenko [19] [20] . Later it became known that the top party in the person of the spouses Smirnov and the head of the Executive Committee Igor Ivanenko moved to Moscow [21] .
On January 23, 2010 , the constituent congress of the Republican Social-Patriotic Party was held, which included, among other things, members of the Patriotic Party [2] . On the same day, the final meeting of the Fifth Congress was held, at which a decision was made to reorganize the party into the Patriots of Transnistria Social Movement. Oleg Smirnov was elected chairman of the movement [22] .
Party Ideology
At the constituent congress, it was stated that the party’s priority areas of activity will be to strengthen the independence of Transnistria, the struggle to strengthen presidential power in Transnistria and social justice, as well as the desire for a geopolitical alliance with Russia [1] .
After the Third Party Congress was adopted, its priorities were announced [10] :
- strong presidential power, as a guarantee of political stability and the inviolability of the constitutional system;
- the control of society over power through political parties and social movements;
- development of media independence;
- implementation of the principle of priority of human and civil rights and freedoms over state rights;
- transition to a transparent tax policy;
- an effective system of social guarantees, targeted social assistance, the formation of a unified system of social insurance and health protection;
- improvement and implementation of antitrust laws;
- improving the quality of state property management;
- development of small and medium-sized businesses;
- judicial reform;
- development of international economic relations beneficial to Transnistria;
- continuation of the course towards rapprochement with Russia;
- formation and support of the current policy aimed at the recognition of the PMR.

Governing bodies
The supreme governing body of the Patriotic Party was the Congress, which elected the main political body of the party - the Central Board. The Party Chairman led the work of the Central Board. The current activities of the party were coordinated by the Executive Committee.
Social-patriotic bloc
On April 8, 2009 , the Chairman of the Transnistrian Patriotic Party, Oleg Smirnov, and the Chairman of the Political Council of the Transnistrian Republican Party, Vladimir Rilyakov, signed the Agreement on the Establishment of the Republican Political Association "Social-Patriotic Bloc" [26] [24] [27] .
The ideological foundation of the Social-Patriotic bloc was the principles of international recognition of the independence of the Transnistrian Moldavian Republic, the construction of an effective state with a socially oriented economy, the development of civil society institutions in Transnistria [28] .
The official leader of St. Petersburg was the chairman of the Patriotic Party Oleg Smirnov. The head of the Political Council of the Transnistrian Republican Party, Vladimir Rilyakov, was elected his deputy. The coordinators of the bloc were appointed the head of the PPP Executive Committee Igor Ivanenko and the first deputy chairman of the Political Council of the PDP Nikolai Smolensky [29] .
On September 18, 2009 , the block’s manifest program was adopted [30] .
Partnership with A Just Russia
On August 7, 2007 , in Moscow , an Agreement was signed on the conclusion of a political union between the Just Russia party and the Patriotic Party of Transnistria [12] . Prior to this, in Transnistria, with the support of the Patriotic Party, the public reception of Just Russia was opened [31] .
On September 14, 2007 , a Congress of Russian Citizens was organized in Transnistria, organized jointly by the Patriotic Party and Just Russia [32] .
On March 22, 2008 , Transnistria hosted the International Conference “Forward with Russia!” In support of the candidate for presidency of Russia Dmitry Medvedev , organized by the Patriotic Party together with the fair-Russia [33] .
On April 25, 2008 , during the III Congress of Just Russia, Marina Smirnova was elected to the Central Council.
