Harassment is an uncomfortable or harmful behavior that violates a person’s privacy. Such behavior may consist of direct or indirect verbal abuse or threats , unkind remarks, rude jokes or insinuations , unwanted letters or calls, showing offensive or humiliating photos, intimidation , writing lies about someone, lascivious gestures, unnecessary touch, pats, kisses , tweaks, bumps, physical attack or other similar activities.
It should be noted that the term “harassment” means not only sexual harassment , but also any other harassment, in contrast to the widespread (erroneous) opinion. In many countries, the law limits the possibility of such pressure; legal interpretations of such actions vary in different cultures.
In the United States, the first sexual harassment lawsuits appeared in the 1970s.
The European Parliament has approved a bill to protect against sexual harassment at work.
