Bartonek, Antonin

Antonin Bartonek ( Czech. Antonín Bartoněk ) ( October 29 , 1926 , Brno - May 30, 2016 , ibid.) - Czech classical philologist , doctor of sciences, professor. He was engaged in historical grammar of the Latin and Ancient Greek languages, mycenology (especially Linear B ) and ancient Greek dialects.

Biography

He studied Latin and classical Greek at the Faculty of Philosophy at Masaryk University in Brno, where he taught since 1952 [2] . Since 1990, he taught at the University of Palacky in Olomouc . As a visiting professor, he lectured in Vienna , Heidelberg , Graz , Amsterdam and Cambridge . Trained at several other European universities ( Athens , Venice , Naples , Regensburg , etc.). He was a member of the International Society of Mycenology with a center in Paris [3] and was a member of the Czech Commission of UNESCO .

A monograph by A. Bartonek “Gold-bearing Mycenae” was published in Russian.
