Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles

The main educational projects of the Center are the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, Jerusalem and New York, Moriah Films and the Department of University Relations [4] .

In 1993, the Simon Wiesenthal Center opened the Museum of Tolerance, ( Museum of Tolerance ), dedicated to manifestations of prejudice and intolerance . Most of the museum is occupied by a multimedia exposition telling about the Holocaust.

The center and its director, Marvin Hier, produce documentaries on various topics related to Jewish history. The Moriah Films Division has created 11 documentaries. Two documentaries - “Genocide” (1981) and “The Long Way Home” (1997), in which Hier was co-producer, received the Academy Award [4] .

Efraim Zuroff , director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center office in Jerusalem , is the coordinator of Nazi war crime research and the author of the annual (since 2001) report on investigations and prosecutions of Nazi war criminals, which includes a list of the “most wanted” Nazi war criminals.

Conflicts

The construction of the Museum of Tolerance in Jerusalem provoked protests from some Arab leaders who claimed that the museum was being built on the territory of the ancient Arab cemetery Mamilla . The Israeli Supreme Court rejected these claims, indicating that this territory was not part of the cemetery for more than 50 years and during this time of active public use of the territory there were no protests and no one considered this territory as a cemetery [7] .
