From 2002 to 2005: Before Their Breakthrough

The group was formed in October 2002 in Dillingen on the Danube by four students. Johannes Halbig ( German: Johannes Halbig - guitar July 30, 1989, Dillingen am Danube) and Andreas Schlagenhaft ( German German Andreas Schlagenhafr - guitar, December 9, 1988, Dillingen am Danube) laid the foundation for the group. Manu (Manu - bass, only the surname is known) and Johannes brother Fabian Halbig ( German Fabian Halbig - drums, December 23, 1992, Dillingen-on-Danube) added to the composition of the team.

Since it became clear that Manu was not suitable for the group, he left the band and Maximilian Schlichter ( German: Maximilian Schlischter - guitar, July 3, Emersacker) joined the group as a guitarist. Now Andreas Schlagenhaft took the place of the bass player.

The four received first aid from a musician friend who taught them how to write songs. By this time, the group wrote songs in English and German. They define their music as punk rock.

By this time, the group did not yet have a permanent name. The final name came about during the meal. Fabian, the drummer, received Funghi pizza and commented on the mushrooms with the words: “Yes, these are killers, these mushrooms!” The name of the group arose from this proposal.

When the band had enough material for their first album, they started giving concerts in Dillingen. Meanwhile, at that time they created the program and provided the public with live performances (about 30 concerts from the beginning of 2003 to the end of 2005) and received various awards.

At this time, they produced their first album, “Nach vorne durch die Punkallee” (“Forward along the punk alley” - released July 7, 2004). It was sold at their concerts, as well as on the Internet on their web page. Some songs from this album were released in new versions as singles bonuses.

2005 to today: Killerpilze on stage

in 2005, the idea came up for creating their first serious album. The producer was Roots Bartels. By this time, the Kyrgyz Republic already had a contract with Universal Music .

Throughout Germany, they became famous in the spring of 2006 thanks to their debut single, Richtig Scheisse (“Full Sucks”). In the following months, the group released the “Invasion of Killer Mushrooms” album, sold in the amount of 100,000 copies, and the following singles, then the group went on a tour of Germany. Their publication was accompanied by a further appearance in the media, such as Bravo and Viva.

At the time of their breakthrough, the members of the group were no older than 17 years old, and drummer Fabian was 13.

Unlike their performances in the first years of the appearance of the group, the vast majority of the public at their performances was male, but now, the girls are given an advantage between, they make up more than 2/3 of the audience.

In March 2007, bassist Andreas Schlagenhaft left the band to concentrate on graduation.

Benni (only the surname is known) took on the role of bassist during performances, but is not an official member of the group. In the studio, Max took on the role of bass player.

The group, on the one hand, took part in the kein Bock auf Nazis anti-right campaigns, and on the other hand, in the “I want justice” campaign. As part of the last winter of 2006, they visited Ethiopia and advocated the construction of a school.

In mid-July 2007, the Kyrgyz Republic warmed up 2 concerts of Avril Lavigne in Germany. They immediately played the Openair tour with songs from the new album “Mit Pauken und Raketen” (“With Drums and Missiles” - released July 27). At the preparatory stage of the album’s release is the single “Liebmichhassmich” (“Love Me, Hate Me” - 13 July). In late August, as part of the Komm Mir Nicht Mit Dieser Tour, the Kyrgyz Republic played 13 concerts in Germany, Austria, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

May 24, 2008 Killerpilze played for the first time in Russia - at the Gorbunov Palace of Culture in Moscow ^[1] .

• The name Killerpilze is composed of English and German words and in translation means "killer mushrooms."
• Fabi in 2008 starred in the movie "Crocodiles of the suburbs", where he played the main role of a disabled boy
• Killerpilze raised several thousand dollars to build new schools in Ethiopia.
• Due to poor sales of the Mit Pauken Und Raketen album, the Universal Music record company terminated the contract with the guys and they continued their career on the self-organized label KillerpilzeRecords
