Miami-Dade ( Eng. Miami-Dade County ) is a county in the state of Florida , USA . The county seat is Miami . According to the 2010 census, the number of residents in the district was 2,496,435 people. Miami-Dade is the first populated county in Florida and the seventh in the United States. The district includes 34 incorporated cities

The district was created on January 18, 1836, on the basis of the US Land Law. It was named after Francis L. Dade; until 1997, it was called Dade County .
Geography
The county is located in the southern part of the state. In the east and south it is washed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The average height of the area above sea level is 1.8 m. According to the US Census Bureau, the Miami-Dade County has a total area of 6,296 square kilometers, of which 4,916 sq. kilometer occupies the land and 1380 square meters. kilometers - water. In 2010, there were 2,496,435 people living in the district (of which 48.4% of men and 51.6% of women), there were 867,352 households and 602,911 families. The racial composition : white - 73.8%, African Americans - 18.9%, Native Americans - 0.2% and representatives of two or more races - 2.4% [1] .
According to the 2010 census, the population of the district was distributed as follows: 21.9% - residents under 18 years old, 4.2% - between 18 and 21 years old, 59.8% - from 21 to 65 years old and 14.1% - aged 65 and over. The average age of the population is 38.2 years. For every 100 women in Miami-Dade, there were 93.8 men, while for 100 adult women, there were already 91.0 men of comparable age [1] .
Of the 867,352 households, 69.5% were families: 43.8% married couples living together (19.1% with children under 18); 18.8% are women living without husbands and 6.9% are men living without wives. 30.5% had no family. On average, 2.83 people have a household, and the average family size is 3.33 people. 23.5% of the population lived alone, 8.4% were single elderly people (over 65 years of age) [1] .
Economy
In 2016, out of 2,178,775 able-bodied residents over the age of 16, 1,235,165 people were employed. In 2014, the median income for a family was estimated at $ 50,373, for a household - at $ 44,224. The per capita income is $ 24,515. 16.3% of the total number of families in Miami-Deida and 19.9% of the total population were at the time of the census below the poverty line [1] .
