Alcitepe ( Turkish : Alçıtepe ; former name is Greek Crete . Κριθιά ) is a small Turkish village in the Eceabat region, Canakkale province, about six kilometers from the southern tip of the Gallipoli Peninsula .

During the Gallipoli campaign of World War I ( 1915 ), the village was the target of repeated and unsuccessful attacks by the French-British forces for several months (see First Battle of Critias , Second Battle of Critias , Third Battle of Critias ).
