Ground

The production of FIAT cars by Henri-Theodore Pigozzi started in France in 1928 at a factory near Paris . And by 1934, 30,000 FIATs had already been released. In 1934, he founded the company Societe Industrielle de Mechanique et Carrosserie Automobile (Industrial Automobile and Bodywork Society), abbreviated SIMCA. The first model to leave the factory gate was the Simca-Fiat 6CV . It was nothing short of a FIAT 508 Balilla . The next model was Simca-Fiat 11CV ( FIAT 518 Ardita ).

Company Rapid Development Period

In 1951, Simca introduced a car of its own design Aronde . It was a small car with a supporting body. The car was very popular, in the first year of production more than 20,000 pieces were sold. And in 1959, sales already exceeded 100,000 cars. The model stood on the conveyor until 1964.
Due to the success of Aronde in 1954, the factory of the French branch of the Ford concern in Poissy was acquired. Together with the plant, Simca received the rights to the Vedette model. In 1957, the launch of the Ariane model, built on the Vedette chassis with an engine from Aronde, began . After the modernization of the Poissy plant, the main production moved there, and in 1961 the plant in Nanterre was sold to Citroen . In 1959, Talbot was purchased.

Chrysler and PSA reign

Despite the popularity of their cars, Simca was forced to sell a 15% stake in Chrysler . In 1962, the Simca 1000 came out , and a year later, Chrysler increased its stake to 63%. In 1964, Henri-Theodore Pigozzi died, and in 1967 Chrysler already owns 77% of the French company. In 1968, the front-wheel drive Simca 1100 with a transverse engine appeared. In 1970, Simca acquired the branch of the military-industrial group Matra in conjunction with which the models Matra-Simca Bagheera and Matra-Simca Rancho were produced . In the same year, Chrysler bought back 99% of the company and renamed it Chrysler-France. Older models continued to be produced under the brand name Simca, later Simca-Chrysler and Chrysler-Simca. The 160 and 180 models that appeared in 1970 were produced under the Chrysler brand. In 1975, the lineup was updated. The production of 5-door hatchbacks with front-wheel drive 1307 and 1308 has begun . Two years later, rear-wheel drive models 1609 and 1610 came out. In 1978, Chrysler sold its shares to the PSA group. Soon, all models began to be produced under the brand name Talbot .
