Cathinone , norephedrone ( β-ketoamphetamine ) is an alkaloid found in kate ( Catha edulis ), a shrub of the Beresklet family , growing in East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula . The effect on the body is close to ephedrine and amphetamine .

Toxic effects
Excessive consumption of cathinone can lead to loss of appetite , cause nausea , anorexia, insomnia , increased irritability, akathisia , skin itching, hyperemia , tachycardia , mydriasis and headache [1] .

Cathinone is listed as a psychotropic substance in List I (narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, the circulation of which in the Russian Federation is prohibited in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation and international treaties of the Russian Federation).
