History
Mangistaumunaigas was established in November 1963 as a state-owned enterprise of republican significance Mangyshlakneft to develop new open oil and gas fields on the Mangyshlak peninsula ( Zhetybai and Uzen). Mangyshlakneft began to develop all oil and gas fields in the Mangistau region.
Two oil and gas production departments (NGDU) were formed - for the development of the Zhetybai group of Zhetybayneft fields (now PU Zhetybaymunaigaz), and the Uzen group - Uzenneft (JSC Uzenmunaygaz). In 1975, the 3rd Oil and Gas Production Directorate (NGDU) was created at the Buzachi peninsula - Komsomolskneft (Kalamkasmunaygaz) to develop the Buzachinskoye group of fields.
Mangyshlakneft in 1991 was directly subordinate to the Ministry of Energy and Fuel Resources of Kazakhstan, from October 1993 to June 1996 it was part of the State Holding Company Munaigas (now Kazmunaygaz ). In order to reduce the cost of privatizing Mangyshlakneft, in late 1994 Uzdenneft was removed from the union as a separate company within the national company Munaigas ( Kazmunaygaz ). Prior to the corporation Mangyshlakneft in OJSC Mangistaumunaigas, the association discovered more than 80 oil and gas fields in the Mangistau region, with initial reserves of 2 to 10 million tons of oil from each discovered field.
In May 1995, the association was transformed into Mangistaumunaigas OJSC and withdrew from Kazakhoil ( Kazmunaigas ). In 1997, Mangistaumunaigas OJSC was bought by a Kazakh entrepreneur Rashid Sarsenov represented by the Central Asia Petroleum Ltd., an Indonesian company. After the purchase of Rashid Sarsenov’s structure, Mangistaumunaigas OJSC received only 15 licensed fields in the Mangistau region.
At the end of 1999, for the first time in the fields of Mangistaumunaigas OJSC in the Zhetybai field, hydraulic fracturing was applied with the Russian service company SMM JSC.
In the early 2000s, service companies were withdrawn from the Mangistaumunaigas OJSC as separate companies, at the moment almost all are part of Aktuneftteservis.
In November 2009, Mangistaumunaigas JSC was purchased by the Kazakh-Chinese joint venture Mangistau Investments BV, together with Kazmunaigas (51% of the shares) and CNPC (49% of the shares).
At the end of 2010, an acid fracturing treatment with Halliburton was first used at the North Accar field. In 2012, SiBu company drilled new horizontal wells at the Zhetybai field.
