History

1941

The division was formed from August 20 to September 15 in the city ​​of Atkarsk, Saratov Region ( Volga Military District , PrivO)) as part of the 61st Reserve Army . The combat training was carried out according to a six-week accelerated program. On November 26, after tactical exercises, the rifle division began loading military trains in military trains to make a march to the theater of war . The formation came to the front on November 27. 1942

At the beginning of January 1942, the 61st Army (61 A) regrouped its forces, including 350 troops north-west of the city of Belev, and from January 8 began to strike in the south-west direction to bypass the enemy’s Bolkhov group from the west.

The division took possession of Chernyshino, Kasyanovo, Grin, Ozerka, Sorokino, Ulyanovo and by February 1 left the forest 10 km northwest of Bolkhov, where it was counterattacked by superior enemy forces.

On January 13, a formation of 61 A was transferred to the Western Front , where it held positions at the Leonovsky - Zheleznitsa line . By the end of January, the division fought for Vasilyevskoye, Vyazovna, after which it switched to defense .

1943

With heavy fighting, she left the encirclement and was concentrated in the area of ​​the cities of Starobelsk, Shulginsk, where she completed the manning and prepared for the upcoming battles to liberate the Donbass .

From April to July, the division was in reserve front.

From August 17 to September 7, the division conducted heavy offensive battles in the Golaya Dolina area of ​​the North Donets and on September 9 began the pursuit of enemy withdrawal forces in the direction of the cities of Pavlograd and Sinelnikovo .

In November, she was sent to the 1st Ukrainian Front , where she participated in the Zhytomyr-Berdychiv operation , during which she participated in the liberation of Zhytomyr on December 31 .

1944

Participating in the Proskurovsky-Chernivtsi operation , on March 19, the division freed Kremenets .

Since July 13, the division participated in the Lviv-Sandomierz operation , advancing on the right wing of the front, north of Lviv , through Rava-Russkaya . 1945

"Wisla-Oder Operation"

Between January 15 and 21, the division continued to operate in the second echelon, advancing behind the front lines of the army and concentrated by the end of January 21 in the region of Klasko - Olšovka - Veruszów.

In January 23 and 24, in collaboration with units 112 and 280 of the SD 27, she fought for Schreiberdorf , Badovitz , Gross Warterberg , Schlaupe , Schlaise .

On February 8, at 9.30, after an hour of artillery preparation, the division went on the offensive, defeated the enemy and took control of the city of Luben. Forcing the Beaver River, the division in 12 days marched with battles 100 km and occupied more than 30 large settlements. On the night of February 27, the division took up defense along the northern bank of the Neisse River in the areas of Birkfer, Lichtenberg, Jamnitz, Pattag. At this line, the division fought defensive battles until April 11th.

On April 11, the division surrendered its defense to units of the 2nd Polish Army and by April 14 concentrated in the Merudorf and Mühlbach areas.

On April 16, after 40 minutes of artillery preparation, the assault battalions of 1176 and 1180 sp began crossing the Neisse river in less than an hour, under the enemy’s hurricane fire, the water line was crossed and the battalions attacked the front line of the enemy’s defense on the west bank of the Neisse river. On vehicles of the front, the division was transferred to the southern outskirts of Berlin in the area of ​​the Telt Canal , Potsdam . Heavy fighting for Berlin began.

Attempts to force the Teltov Canal and the Havel River from success were unsuccessful. Having prepared in the morning of April 25, the division forced the Telt Canal.
