The Order of the Sun of Peru ( Spanish Orden El Sol del Perú ) is Peru's highest state civil award. The oldest civil order in America.

Content
History
The Order of the Sun was instituted on October 8, 1821 by the fighter for the independence of Peru, General José San Martín, after the capture of Lima .
Originally had three degrees.
On March 9, 1825, the order was abolished due to abuses in awarding the order.
Restored under the name of the Order of the Sun of Peru in 1921 in honor of the century of independence of Peru . Had four degrees.
In 1937, the fifth degree was added.

Awards Award
On November 25, 2008, the President of Peru, Alan Garcia Perez, awarded the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev with the highest distinction of the Order of the Sun of Peru. At various times, the Order was awarded the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev , German Chancellor Angela Merkel , Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk , Chairman of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao and many other Peruvians and foreigners.
The Knight of the Grand Cross of the Order is, in particular, Peruvian opera singer Juan Diego Flores [1] .
During the visit of Christina Fernandez de Kirchner in Peru in March 2010, she was awarded the country's highest state award - the Order of the “Sun of Peru” [2] .
