Jonathan Mayburg is a professional musician, vocalist and songwriter for the Shearwater group (from 2001 to the present day), created jointly with Will Sheff in Austin , Texas . He also worked with Scheff in the Okkervil River team (1999-2008), who left in May 2008 due to conflicts within the group.

Mayburg has a degree in ornithology , and his love for birds makes itself felt in the name of the group, in the names and motifs of some songs of the Shearwater group.
Mayburg also recorded his solo material, although he prefers to sell these records on the Shearwater tour.
