According to Edda , the road to Hel passed along the bridge over the Göll River. Modgood was the guard of the bridge. When Hermod went to Hel for Baldr , he passed through this bridge and talked with Modgood. She was interested in the purpose of his journey, satisfying her curiosity, she did not put any obstacles to him.
Sometimes Modgood is called the mistress of the monstrous dog Garm .
