The President of the Republic of Northern Macedonia ( Maced . Presidatel of the Republic of Severna Macedonia ) is the head of the executive power and the state of Northern Macedonia .

He is elected in general and direct elections by secret ballot for a term of five years. A person who has reached the age of 40 and is a citizen of the Republic of Northern Macedonia can take part in the elections. A person cannot be elected president under a specified age and / or residing in the territory of the Republic of Northern Macedonia for less than 10 years during the last 15 years before the election.
Before taking office, the President takes a solemn oath.
Powers
President of Northern Macedonia, according to the Constitution :
- appoints a mandate to determine the composition of the Government of the Republic;
- appoints and recalls by decree ambassadors and envoys of the republic abroad;
- accepts credentials and letters of recall from accredited diplomatic representatives;
- proposes candidates for two judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic;
- proposes two members of the Republican Judicial Council;
- appoints three members of the republic’s Security Council;
- proposes candidates for members of the Council for Interethnic Relations;
- appoints and dismisses other carriers of state and public functions in accordance with the Constitution and the law;
- presents awards and distinctions in accordance with the law;
- pardons in accordance with the law;
- exercise other powers provided for by the Constitution.

The government of ASNOM (1944-1945)
The Anti-Fascist Assembly on the National Liberation of Macedonia ( Maced . Anti-Fascist Assembly for Narodnos Osloboduvakhe in Macedonia ), abbreviated ASNOM , whose first plenary meeting was held on August 2, 1944 in the Prohor Pchinsky Monastery (near the city of Kumanovo , on a meeting, held a meeting of the representative of the Republic of Macedonia ). statehood, itself the supreme, legislative, representative and executive body of the government of the Republic of Macedonia, and recognized the Macedonian language as the official language in this state. As part of the Democratic Federative Yugoslavia (1945)
On November 29, 1943 in the Bosnian city of , at the second session of the Anti-Fascist Popular Liberation Council of Yugoslavia , it was decided to build a democratic federative state of Yugoslav peoples under the leadership of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia after the end of World War II . The foundations of a federal structure of the country of 6 parts ( Serbia , Croatia , Bosnia and Herzegovina , Slovenia , the Republic of Macedonia and Montenegro ) were laid.
On March 7, 1945 , the provisional government of the Democratic Federative Yugoslavia , which received international recognition, was formed in Belgrade . As part of the Democratic Federative Yugoslavia, the Republic of Macedonia was named Democratic Federal Macedonia ( Macad. Democrat Federal Macedonia ).
At the third meeting of the Anti-Fascist Assembly on the National Liberation of Macedonia (ASNOM) on April 16, 1945 in Skopje, ASNOM was transformed into the People's Assembly (Parliament) of the Republic of Macedonia. The Presidium of the National Assembly headed by the chairman was elected as the governing body ( Macadatis Presidency of the Presidium of the National Assembly ).
On November 29, 1945 , the Constituent Assembly of Yugoslavia finally liquidated the monarchy and proclaimed the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia , with the transformation of the federal states into people's republics, including the People’s Republic of Macedonia .

As part of the FNRY (1945-1963)
After the proclamation of the Constituent Assembly of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia on November 29, 1945 , the states that were part of the Democratic Federative Yugoslavia were transformed into people's republics, including the People’s Republic of Macedonia (the Macedonian Republic of Macedonia ). Officially, this name was adopted on January 31, 1946 .
Until February 3, 1953 , the highest official of the People’s Republic was the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Assembly ( Maked. Prezsedatel for the Presidium of the People’s Assembly ), later - the Chairman of the National Assembly ( Maked. Precedent of the People’s Assembly ).

As part of the SFRY (1963–1991)
The new constitution of Yugoslavia entered into force on April 7, 1963 , was proclaimed the country a socialist state, whereby its name was changed to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia , and its member republics were named socialist, including the Socialist Republic of Macedonia (the Macedonian Socialist Republic of Macedonia ).
In 1974, following the federal constitution The new constitution of Macedonia entered into force [5] . On May 8, 1974 in Macedonia, a non-parliamentary supreme collegial management body was established - the Presidium of the Socialist Republic of Macedonia , headed by the President of the Presidium ( Serbian Prestident of Precedent of Socialist Republic of Macedonia ).
On January 25, 1991 , the National Assembly adopted the Declaration of Sovereignty of the Socialist Republic of Macedonia, and on June 7, 1991 , a constitutional amendment that changed the name of the country to the Republic of Macedonia ( Maced. Rep . Macedonia ). After the referendum on independence held on September 8, 1991 , on September 17, 1991 , a new Constitution was adopted that proclaimed Macedonia an independent state. The post of the head of state, according to her, was called the President of Macedonia ( Machedon, Presidatel of the Republic of Macedonia ).

Republic of Macedonia (1991–2019)
After the referendum on independence held on September 8, 1991 , on September 17, 1991 , a new Constitution was adopted proclaiming the Republic of Macedonia an independent state. Republic of Northern Macedonia (from 2019)
On June 12, 2018 , the governments of Greece and the Republic of Macedonia, after a long dispute, came to a consensus on which the North Macedonian side decided to start the procedure of changing the name to the Republic of Northern Macedonia ( Macedonia Severna Macedonia ). On September 30, 2018 , a referendum was held in which citizens could express their attitude to this agreement, which was declared not to have taken place. On January 11, 2019 , the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia approved a change in the name of the country (81 votes with 80 needed). On January 25, 2019 , the agreement was ratified by the Greek parliament (153 votes, with the required 151). On February 12, 2019 , the agreement to rename the Republic of Macedonia to Northern Macedonia officially entered into force [15] .
