Geography
It is located on the Aban River (a tributary of the Usolka , Yenisei basin) 309 km north-east of Krasnoyarsk , and 62 km north-north-east of the Kansk-Yenisei railway station on the Trans-Siberian Railway [5] .
History
The name " Aban " comes from the Assan language and means " bear corner " in translation. Asanas lived along the Usolka River and in the lower reaches of the Chunya River . By the XVII century they were assimilated by the Evenks [6] .
Aban was founded by the peasants Turovs - immigrants from Taseev between 1745 and 1762. In the census book of the taxable population for 1762, it is indicated that in the Taseevsky district of the Yenisei district, during the third revision of 1762-1763, the Aban village existed and there were 55 inhabitants, including 28 male souls, all bearing the name of Turov [7] .
The settlement of Aban was carried out by forced resettlement carried out by the government during the development of the Siberian postal tract and voluntary peasant colonization .
In 1859, in the village of Abanskoy, which was part of the Kansky okrug , there were 497 inhabitants with 74 yards. The success of the mass settlement of this territory is associated with the activities of Prince Volkonsky, who resettled the immigrants . His name is associated with the formation in 1911 of the Aban parish, in which there were 1,190 residents. With the participation of Volkonsky, a church, school, hospital, and veterinary clinic were built in Aban.
Since 1924, Aban is a district center, the number of its inhabitants was 2493 people. Mass development of the village began in the 1920s, after the end of the civil war .
The largest population in Aban was recorded in 1989 at the census . Then, in the urban-type village of Aban, 10.4 thousand people lived [4] .
- The first streets of the village
The first street in Aban was Beregovaya Street (modern Naberezhnaya), built by the first settlers along the riverbank. The second street - Bolshaya (now Sovetskaya) was built to the south, perpendicular to Beregovaya. By 1887, it ended in a cemetery and a chapel. The third street, Nizovaya, was built along the river, parallel to Beregovaya. Their intersection was the center of Aban until the end of the 19th century. In the first half of the same century, a street was built up with exiled Poles, now called Pervomaiskaya. At the beginning of the XX century, they began to call it Terebilovka.
