Biography
Born on February 20 ( March 5 ), 1895 in Yuzovka .
Member of the RCP (b) since 1918. Since 1920 - at a leading position in the coal industry. He entered the Moscow Mining Academy , after its division into six universities in 1930 he graduated from Moscow State University, (now - Mining Institute NUST “MISiS” ). Then he worked on the construction of the Moscow Metro , from 1933 the first deputy chief, and then the head of the Metrostroy (1935-1939).
One of the authors of a number of new methods of work: accelerating the preparation of workings on a steep dip and on horizontal layers, methods for driving mine shafts and subway tunnels, a multi-bar cutting-and-loading loading machine (mountain combine) and others.
In 1938-1947, the chief of Glavshakhtostroy. Since 1939, the 1st Deputy Commissar of the USSR Coal Industry; since 1946, the 1st Deputy Minister of the USSR Coal Industry. Member of the Supreme Council of the USSR (Council of the Union of Oryol Oblast)) 1st (Elected 12/12/1937) and 2nd convocations (Elected 10/02/1946).
During the Second World War, he led the development of measures to increase the production of coking coal in Kuzbass and Karaganda, after the war - the restoration of the mines of Donbass.
Since 1949 - at a responsible job in the Council of Ministers of the USSR.
He died on October 30, 1953 . He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy cemetery (plot number 2).
Rewards
- twice the Order of Lenin (03.03.1945) [1] ;
- twice Order of the Red Banner of Labor (02/05/1939);
- The Stalin Prize of the second degree (1947) - for the improvement and implementation of the shield method of tunneling for the construction of the Moscow Metro named after L. M. Kaganovich, which ensured a significant increase in labor productivity in underground work.
Memory
- In 1964, a street in Moscow was named after Abakumov. Former Station Street in the village of Los.
- Mine and village Abakumova in Donetsk.
- Mining College named after E.T. Abakumov in Donetsk.
