Smolentsev, Evgeny Alekseevich

Born in a large peasant family. In 1941 he graduated from high school in the city of Kirovgrad, Sverdlovsk Region, after which he worked as a foreman at the Kirovgrad smelter.

From February 1942 to November 1945 he served in the Urals Military District as commander of a reserve rifle regiment. After demobilization, he worked as a dispatcher at the Kirovgrad Chemical Plant.

In 1946 - 1948 studied at the Sverdlovsk law school. Since August 1948 - People's Judge of the 3rd section of the Leninsky District of Sverdlovsk . Since December 1951 - Member of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court. In 1953 he graduated from the Sverdlovsk Law Institute . Since March 1953 - Deputy Chairman of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court. Since June 1966 - Chairman of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court.

On September 20, 1972 he was elected a member of the Supreme Court of the USSR and approved as chairman of the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases.

Since December 1977 - Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the USSR. On July 7, 1987, he was elected President of the Supreme Court of the RSFSR . In June 1989, the Congress of People's Deputies of the USSR was approved by the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the USSR.

He remained in this position until January 30, 1992 , when the Supreme Court of the USSR ceased its activity by a decision of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Russian Federation . ^[1] From January 1992 to July 1997, he was the chief consultant of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation .

He was vice president of the Soviet Friendship Society of the USSR - Ireland .

He died on January 11, 2017 in Moscow. According to his will, he was buried in Yekaterinburg at the Ivanovo cemetery [1] .

Grandson - Smolentsev Evgeny Borisovich - Technical Director of FC Zhemchuzhina (Sochi), until December 2010 he worked in the same position at FC Spartak (Moscow).
