The Mark 45 127 mm artillery mount is a universal automatic artillery mount that has been in service with the U.S. Navy ships since 1971 and adopted by the Navy of Australia , New Zealand , Greece , Spain , Turkey and Thailand . [1] Mark 45 artillery mount was the development of the Mark 42 AU . Produced by FMC Corporation. For 2008, five modifications of the AU were developed: Mod. 0 - 4, of which only Mod. 3 was not adopted.

In total, from 1971-2008, about 870 Mark 45 artillery mounts of all modifications were produced. Modification 0 was adopted in 1971, modification 1 - in 1980, modification 2 - around 1988 and the last of the modifications - Mod. 4 - was adopted by the ships in 2000 [1] [5]
