The Western Province ( Sinhala. බස්නාහිර පළාත Basnahira Palata , there. மேற்கு மாகாணம் Mael Maakaanam ) is the most densely populated province of Sri Lanka . The administrative center is Colombo , the largest city in the country. The population is 5,837,294 people (2012).
