It flows through the territory of the Ruzsky urban district . It flows from Lake Trostenskoye near the village of Onufrievo at an altitude of 195 m above sea level and flows into Ruza near the village of Rakitino at an altitude of 167 m. The river is 59 km [3] (according to other sources - 63 km [4] ), the catchment area is 745 km² [3] , the average slope is 0.47 m / km. In the upper reaches, to the mouth of the Ridge , the valley is swampy, below the river forms many bends. The banks of the Lake are predominantly high and wooded. The river flow is regulated by Trostenskoe Lake and swamps .
In 1966, a dam was built near the village of Vasilyevskoye , which formed the Ozerninsky reservoir .
In ancient times, there was a trade route along the Ozerna: Novgorod merchants from the Lama River (the Volga basin) dragged boats into Trostenskoye Lake, from where they sailed through the Ozerna to the Oka . At the beginning of this drawing, the city of Volokolamsk arose.
During the time of Catherine II , magnificent noble estates , such as Nikolskoye-Gagarino and Volynshchina-Poluectovo, began to be built on the picturesque shores of Ozerna.
