Baikonurov Omirkhan Aimagambetovich ( kaz. Baikoңyrov mirkhan Aimakambetuly ) ( 1912 - 1980 ) - Kazakh Soviet mining scientist, professor ( 1960 ), academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR ( 1962 ), doctor of technical sciences ( 1972 ), honored high school worker of the Kazakh SSR ( 1971 ).

Content
Biography
He was a member of the CPSU since 1938 . In 1940 - 1943 he worked as a shift supervisor, head of a mine at the Dzhezkazgan mine, in 1943 - 1952 - as a head of a mine department at the Dzhezkazgan flour mill [1] .
In 1952 - 1962 he worked as the rector of the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute , in 1962 - 1964 - academician secretary of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR and head of the laboratory of geophysical research methods of the Institute of Mining of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR . Since 1965 - Head of KazPTI . Awarded the Order of Lenin , other orders and medals [2] .
Works
The main works of Baikonurov are devoted to the issues of continuous underground mining of deposits, seismic safety of workings, studies of the physicomechanical properties of rocks, and general classification of mining. He also dealt with the problem of complex mechanization in a chamber development system [2] .
Author of over 300 scientific papers, including 15 monographs, including:

- Complex mechanization of underground mining of ores, M., 1981.
