He graduated from the Eastman School of Music ( 1938 ), a student of Howard Hanson (who recorded Keller's Serenade for clarinet and strings with a school orchestra in 1941 ). He taught at the University of Michigan , then in 1958 - 1976 - at the University of Oregon ; Among the notable students of Keller are Leslie Basset , Stephen Scott , and Ralph Towner .
Keller owns three symphonies, sacred music (including Magnificat for Choir and Orchestra, 1948 ), sonata and two sonatinas for piano, alto, cello and flute sonatas, etc.
