Sheferdia ( Latin Shephérdia ) is a genus of plants of the Sucker family , which includes 3 species of small shrubs growing in North America . Shepherd's fruits are red berries with barely noticeable white dots. They are edible to humans, but have a bitter-sour taste. After their use, there is also a feeling of dry mouth.
