Race Driver: GRID - a computer game developed by Codemasters and released on the personal computer and game consoles PlayStation 3 , Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS in 2008 . The Nintendo DS version was developed by Firebrand Games . The publisher of the game in Russia and the CIS countries was the company New Disc . All races, racers, teams, cars and sponsors in the game are real. The sequel to the game is Grid 2 .

Development
The game runs on the EGO game engine , a modified version of the Neon technology on which the previous Codemasters studio game Colin McRae: DiRT 2007 is built . The damage system has been completely rewritten. [7]
The demo for game consoles was published on May 8, 2008 on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace . A day later, a release and versions for a personal computer took place (using Securom copy protection system ). [8] Two game modes are included in the demo version: round-robin racing and drifting . Three cars ( Ford Mustang GT-R , Nissan S15 Silvia and BMW 320si ). There is a multiplayer mode that allows you to play simultaneously 12 players. The demo on the three main platforms was downloaded by more than a million people. [9] [10]
Nintendo DS Version
A special version of the game designed for the Nintendo DS game console was developed by Firebrand Games , which created the game Race Driver: Create and Race . This version of the game contains 20 game tracks and 25 cars. The game also includes an updated version of the Track Designer level editor from Race Driver: Create and Race , allowing players to create their own roundabout and roadside tracks.
