Geography
It is located on the southern edge of the Kudarinskaya steppe at the north-eastern spurs of the Khamar-Daban ridge , 10 km south-west of the regional center - the village of Kabansk ; half a kilometer north of the outskirts of Kamensk itself passes the federal highway P258 "Baikal", enveloping the northeast part of the village where Timlyui station is located on the Trans-Siberian Railway.
History
It was founded in the late 1940s near the ancient village of Timlyui during the construction of the Timlyui cement plant under the name of the village of Tsemzavod .
On October 5, 1949, the working village of Kamensk was formed [2] .
On January 13, 1965, the city of Babushkin , the working villages of Vydrino , Selenginsk , Kamensk and Tankhoy , as well as the Ambassadorial Village Council, were transferred from the Pribaikalsky District to the Kabansky District [2] .
