Biography

Born March 3, 1912 in the city of Ivanovo-Voznesensk (now Ivanovo) in a working class family. Russian. He graduated from the school factory apprenticeship at the station of Ivanovo Northern Railway. He worked as an assistant driver in the Ivanovo branch of the road, then as deputy head of the technical propaganda department. Since 1932 - an instructor of the Komsomol city committee on transport in Ivanovo.

In the Red Army since 1933. According to the Komsomol permit, he was sent to the Leningrad Military Engineering School, which he graduated in 1936. After graduating from college he commanded a sapper unit. In 1938 he joined the CPSU (b) / CPSU . He participated in the campaign for the liberation of Western Ukraine .

In the Great Patriotic War from July 1, 1941. He fought as the commander of the 178th separate combat engineer battalion of the 174th rifle division . When the 22nd Army retreated, Yegorov’s sappers mined bridges, roads, important strategic objects behind the departing troops, made passages in minefields, and set up barriers for enemy equipment. Then Egorov received the first military award - the Order of the Red Star [1] [2] .

In 1942, Egorov was appointed the division engineer of the 139th Rifle Division , in which he went until the end of the war. The division fought on the Kalinin front , liberated Smolensk . In 1943, in the battle during the liberation of Smolensk, he was wounded in the leg, but did not leave the system.

Lieutenant Colonel Yegorov distinguished himself in Operation Bagration , when crossing the Dnieper near the city of Mogilev (Belarus) in the summer of 1944.

On June 27, 1944, our troops broke into the outskirts of Mogilev. After moving with a group of sappers on the opposite bank, occupied by the enemy, Egorov carried out engineering reconnaissance of the river. He found hidden under the water piles of the old bridge, running across the river. Stacks of wood were nearby. Despite the strong fire of the enemy, the sappers began to build up piles, lay the flooring, so in a few hours the crossing of the Dnieper was ready. Next to it, the sappers built assault bridges for infantry. Our troops successfully crossed the Dnieper. June 28 Mogilev was released. For this act of unprecedented courage, Lieutenant Colonel Egorov was presented to the heroic rank.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 10, 1945, Lieutenant-Colonel Yegorov Alexei Mikhailovich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (N 5479) for the exemplary performance of command assignments and for showing courage and heroism in battles with the German fascist invaders. .

He also acted clearly when guiding crossings over the Berezina and Neman rivers. He participated in battles in East Prussia , liberated the cities of Osovets, Lomza , Danzig , Wittenberg, and led the crossing when crossing the Oder .

After the war he continued to serve in the army. In 1958 he graduated from the crash course of the Kuibyshev Military Engineering Academy. Since 1960, Colonel Egorov - in stock.
