He played for the Army Sports Club ( Berlin ).
He won prizes at the GDR Track and Field Athletics Championships in Walking for 20 kilometers:
- 1959 - third place in the standings, first place in the team;
- 1961 - first place in the team;
- 1963 - first place in the team;
- 1964 - second place in the standings, first place in the team;
- 1965 - first place in the team.
He was awarded the title "Honored Master of Sports of the GDR" and recognized as the "Best Walker of the GDR."
In 1959 he took part in the first children's sports broadcast of the GDR television “Sport - game - pleasure” ( German: Sport - Spiel - Spaß ).
In 1960 received an acting education.
In 1964 - 1990 - the permanent presenter of the popular children's sports television program " Do with us, do as we do, do better than us!" ".
