Gateway of India (Mumbai)

“Gateway of India” [4] (English Gateway of India ) - a basaltic arch in the Indo-Saracen style with details characteristic of Gujarati architecture, which was laid on the seafront of Bombay in honor of the coronation visit of King George V in December 1911.

In connection with the First World War, work on the construction of a 26-meter structure was delayed and was completed only in December 1924. After India gained independence, the last British soldiers sailed from India through a gate, and in 2003 a bloody attack took place in a parking lot near the gate.
