Zdunek, Fritz

Fritz Zdunek ( German: Fritz Sdunek ; April 18, 1947 , Lussov - December 22, 2014 , Hamburg ) is a German coach in professional boxing, a former non-professional boxer. One of the most successful boxing trainers, coached in particular the world champions Klitschko brothers , Dariush Mikhalchevsky , Akhmed Kotiev and others.

Biography

He began his sports career in non-professional boxing. He won the middleweight title at the 1968 GDR Student Championship. Having won 99 of 129 fights, he completed his personal unprofessional boxing career and decided to become a coach.

In 1979 he graduated from the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports ( German: Deutsche Hochschule fΓΌr KΓΆrperkultur ) with a diploma in sports.

Since the 1960s, he was a member of the Traktor Schwerin sports club ( German: Traktor Schwerin ), with whom he also subsequently worked as a trainer until 1989. There he coached, among others, Andreas Tsyulov , who won the lightweight title at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul .

Since March 1994, he worked as a trainer with the famous Hamburg boxing promoter organization Universum Box-Promotion .

Personal life

He was married, had two children - a son and a daughter. The daughter was married to Ahmet Γ–ner [1] , a Turkish born and living in Germany, head of the Hamburg boxing promoter organization Arena Box-Promotion and a former professional boxer.
