Location

It is located in the alignment of Rinktines street, connecting it with Tadeusz Vrublevsky street. On the right bank, Šeiminiskyu and ирirmunu streets approach the bridge, on the left - игigimantu and Arsenalo streets. Near the bridge is the Old Town .

Upstream there is the Zhirmunsky bridge , below - the Green Bridge .

History

The project was developed by Kelprojektas, the authors of the project are engineers D. ицickis ( lit. D. Žickis ), G. Bajoras ( lit. G. Bajoras ), A. ибирibirka ( lit. A. Čibirka ) and architect V. Treinis ( lit. V. Treinys ) [1] [2] . The construction of the bridge was started on March 7, 2002. The general contractor was Tilsta, and Kauno tiltai and Viadukas [3] [4] also participated. The metal structures of the bridge were manufactured by the Lithuanian company AB Vilmeta [5] . During excavation work on the left bank of the river, the remains of wooden piles of the bridge that existed on this site in the XIV century were discovered [6] . The arch structure was assembled on the right bank for 4 months and then using pontoons, electric winches and hydraulic jacks was installed in the riverbed [1] [7] . The grand opening of the bridge took place on July 6, 2003 and was timed to coincide with the 750th anniversary of the coronation of King Mindaugas . The ceremony was attended by President V. Adamkus , Prime Minister A. Brazauskas , Vilnius Mayor A. Zuokas [8] . The construction of the bridge cost about 17 million litas [9] .

Design

A single-span metal arch bridge with a ride down (the carriageway is located at the bottom of the span).

The cross-sectional size of the arches is from 1.5 m in the center of the bridge to 1.8 m on supports; the height of the arches is 9.5 m. The weight of the arch metal structures is 550 tons. The bridge supports are monolithic reinforced concrete on a pile foundation (reinforced concrete piles 10 m long) [6] . The roadway of the bridge is reinforced concrete. The bridge is oblique in plan. The bridge dimension is 5 m. The length of the bridge is 101 m, the width of the bridge is 19.75 m (of which the width of the carriageway is 11.25 m and two sidewalks are 4.25 m each) [10] [3] [1] [2 ] .

The bridge is designed for traffic, cyclists and pedestrians. The carriageway includes 3 lanes for the movement of vehicles. Roadway coverings are asphalt concrete, pavements - flaky tiles. Sidewalks are separated from the roadway by a metal barrier. Metal railings of a simple pattern. On the right bank there is a ladder descent to the lower tier of the embankment.
