Brice Fleutiaux ( French: Brice Fleutiaux ) ( November 23, 1967 - April 24, 2001 ) - French photographer and journalist kidnapped in October 1999 by Chechen separatists during the armed conflict in the region . He was released on June 12, 2000 as a result of a special operation of Russian law enforcement agencies, after spending about 8 months in captivity.

Biography
Born in Toulouse , France . He worked in Cambodia , India , Bangladesh , Vietnam and the republics of the former Yugoslavia .
Captivity
In September 1999, Fletio arrived in Ankara , then through Georgia ended up in Chechnya , where he was going to make a photo report from Grozny . [1] On arrival he was abducted by separatists with a view to ransom. The kidnapping of a journalist caused a public outcry in France . [2] [3] On June 12, 2000, Fletio was released as a result of a special operation. After his release, he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin .
During the captivity, Bris Fletio was held for some time together with the Samara journalist Viktor Petrov , who was also held hostage by Chechen terrorists. [four]
Death
On April 24, 2001, he committed suicide in Paris as a result of a family conflict with his wife [5] . Before his death, he wrote a book where he talked about being in captivity.
