Biography

Born in the Kharkov province. From the family of a poor peasant. Member of the First World War . With the beginning of the revolution in Russia , he sided with the Bolsheviks . In 1917 - chairman of the regimental committee. In 1918 - 1919 he fought with the armed forces of Petlyura , commanded a partisan detachment in the Podolsk province . Member of the Soviet-Polish war of 1920 , the military commissar of the 57th Infantry Division on the Polish front. Since 1920 - member of the CPSU (b) .

In 1922, he was deputy commander of partisan detachments in the Far East and a member of the Military Council of partisan detachments of Primorye. After the victory of Soviet power in the Far East, he led the Primorsky Workers 'and Peasants' Police. In 1925 - 1930, he studied at the Eastern Department of the Far Eastern University . In 1932 - 1941 he worked in the People’s Commissariat, People’s Commissariat, and People’s Fleet.

With the outbreak of World War II, in July 1941 he was sent to the Smolensk region to organize partisan struggles in the rear of German troops. He commanded a unit of Bati partisan units. He created several detachments and became widely known in the Smolensk region as "Father". In April-May 1942 alone, his troops destroyed more than 1.8 thousand enemy soldiers and liberated 230 settlements. In September 1942 he was awarded the Order of Lenin .

Repressed in October 1942. He spent 12 years in camps. Completely rehabilitated in 1954 . Shortly after release he died of a heart attack . He was buried at the Izmailovsky cemetery .
