Pavan Kumar Chamling ( eng. Pawan Kumar Chamling , September 22, 1950 , Yangang ) is an Indian politician, chief minister of Sikkim (since 1994), founder and president of the Sikkim Democratic Front .

He took up politics in 1973 in the wake of the student movement. In 1978 - 1984 he led the Sikkim Prajatantra Congress party, which received 15.76% of the vote and four seats in the Legislative Assembly in the 1979 elections. Then he joined the then-ruling Sikkim Sangram Parishad party, in 1993 he founded the Sikkim Democratic Front party, which successively won the 1994 , 1999 and 2004 elections .
He wrote prose and poetry, published several books.
