About the album

In December 1990, Butler returned to Black Sabbath following the tour’s finale in support of the Tyr album. After that, the idea arose to record an album with Dio, since Butler had a joint performance with him. [2] After the meeting between Iommi and Dio, there was talk of a joint project. Dio wanted to bring drummer Simon Wright to the record, but Iommi proposed Cozy Powell . Later, Iommi himself recalled: “It was strange, because Ronnie and Cozy played Rainbow together and then did not get along. In the end, we settled on Cozy, and began to write material for the future Dehumanizer'a " [2] As a result, friction began between Dio and Cozy. After another scandal, Ronnie returned to Los Angeles , and Tony Martin was invited during his absence. [2] Then Dio returned again and, by chance, Cozy's horse had a heart attack, she fell on him and broke his hip. Due to the impossibility of Cozie's work, Vinnie Appici was invited in his place, who had already played in the group in 1980 - 1982 .

Even after this, according to Iommi’s recollections, the work went hard and he felt discomfort, and tense moments occurred in the work. [2] Nevertheless, the material for the album was selected and Reynold Mack, known for his work with Queen and ELO, was invited to record on the initiative of Dio [2] . The recording process took about six weeks. [2]

In support of the album, the single "TV Crimes" was released [3] .

In 2011, the album was reissued, and the edition of “Deluxe Edition” was also released, containing an additional disc.
