Youth
Danny Trejo was born to a family of Mexican Americans in Los Angeles . His father, Dan Trejo, was a builder.
Trejo is a second cousin of the famous American filmmaker Robert Rodriguez , although this was found out only on the set of the movie Desperate . After that, Robert repeatedly shot his brother in his films.
In his youth, Danny often committed minor street crimes with his uncle, and finally became addicted to heroin at the age of 12. Danny was arrested and prosecuted at least six times as a juvenile delinquent. Streets helped develop his boxing talent, and he was thinking of making it his profession. However, Trejo’s career plans were ruined by ever-increasing drug problems, which in his own words ultimately led him to several prison sentences. In total, Trejo spent 11 years in prison for crimes such as armed robbery and drug trafficking. [3] While in prison, Trejo became the Pennsylvania Boxing Champion immediately in the light and medium categories. In 1968, Danny Trejo, while serving another term in Holmesburg prison, underwent rehabilitation under the 12-step program of Anonymous Addicts , to whom he attributes the merit of his successful disposal of drug addiction. The Way to the Cinema

Creative career
After his release, Danny joined the creative team for the shooting of the movie " Runaway Train ." Edward Bunker , a former prisoner himself, invited Trejo as a boxing trainer for Eric Roberts . Watching Danny's work, director Andrei Konchalovsky offered him a role in the film.
