LADSPA ( Linux Audio Developers Simple Plugin API ) is a standard for combining sound filters and effects with audio software , distributed under the GNU LGPL license. Initially, LADSPA was developed for Linux - by a unanimous decision in the Linux Audio Developers Mailing List , but now LADSPA runs on a large number of different platforms. Many free sound processing programs support LADSPA. There are many different LADSPA plugins.
LADSPA is mainly a C header file.
There are other standards similar to LADSPA. DSSI is used to connect tools - it is even sometimes called “LADSPA for tools”. LV2 is the easily scalable successor to LADSPA, based on it.
