Rafael Moreno Aransadi ( Spanish: Rafael Moreno Aranzadi ; May 23, 1892 , Bilbao - March 1, 1922 , ibid.), Nicknamed Pichichi ( Spanish Pichichi , Basque. Pitxitxi ) - Spanish footballer , striker . One of the best strikers in the history of Spanish football, he was named after the award for the best scorer of the Spanish Championship - “ Pichichi Trophy ”. The nephew of the famous writer Miguel de Unamuno .

Biography

Rafael Aransadi was born in Bilbao, in the province of Bizkaia . He joined the Athletic Bilbao Club in 1911 at the age of 18.

In March 1913, he entered the Athletics squad to the final of the Spanish Cup , where his club lost to Real Union . Subsequently, Aransadi played in the finals of five cups of Spain, including three in a row in 1914, 1915 and 1916. In the 1915 finals, Aransadi made a hat-trick against Espanyol , while Athletic won 5-0, and Athletic won in 1920 and 1921.

In 1920, Pichichi was a member of the first created Spanish national football team , which went to the 1920 Summer Olympics in Belgium . He made his team debut on August 28 in a match against Denmark , and scored his only goal for the national team against the Netherlands national team .

Pichichi on the football field wore a white cap, easily identifiable on the corner, which generously served on it.

Aransadi ended his career in 1921, then becoming an arbiter.

Pichichi died in 1922 from typhus . In 1926, a bust was installed near the San Mamez stadium ; according to tradition, the teams visiting the stadium for the first time leave flowers at the pedestal in memory of the football player.

In 1953, the Spanish sports newspaper Marca named the prize, which is awarded to the top scorers of the Spanish Examples (since 1928) and Segunda (since 1953), “Trophy of Pichichi”.

Aransadi and his wife are immortalized in the painting by artist Aurelio Arteta .
